within the built environment and the company prides itself in proudly South African products. AV Light Steel (Pty) Ltd. supplies a vast range of clientele within South Africa and the SADC region
including Namibia, Botswana, Swaziland, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Angola and
the DRC.
CEO, Lebogang Zulu was introduced to alternatve building technologies by her late friend, the Bafana Bafana footballer, Shoes Moshoeu to a wide horizon of endless possibilities opened. At the time she was working for Eskom. Ms. Zulu left Eskom to venture into alternative construction where
she started her construction company, Tshitshirisang Construction & Projects. The company within
only six years of business delivered 84 classrooms for the Gauteng Department of Education. The construction company also completed 4 main stream schools within this period in partnership with the Independent Development Trust (IDT).
In 2017 Lebogang Zulu acquired AV Light Steel from the late Vincent Bender, who at that stage was her preferred supplier of roof trusses. Currently AV Light Steel is the only licensed manufacturer in the North West Province and is thus positioned brilliantly to fill a huge need in the Northern parts of South Africa and its neighbouring countries.
Since acquiring AV Light Steel (Pty) Ltd, the company has
grown considerably and has ventured into manufacturing a wide range of building material such as metal roof sheet
coverings, light gauge steel frames, AV Light Steel’s own
innovative building technology “The Fortis Building System” and various other industry required components all related
to alternative building Technology. The expansion of the
business directly led to the creation of jobs and skills within the North West Province all possible with the assistance of the
company's co-funders, ABSA, DTI (Department of Trade &
Industry) & IDC (Industrial Development Corporation).
